CLASS: PHOTOGRAPHY
Prize Money – $8, $7, $6
Special Prize: $25 donated by Jan Amell Photography awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in Sections 201 to 214.
Special Prize: $20 donated by Dawn MacDuff for “Most Heartwarming Photo” in Sections 201 to 214.
Exhibitor Tips:
- Open to amateur photographers only (not paid for your photography work)
- Membership must be purchased to exhibit in this photography section.
- Photos should be unframed and mounted on cardboard or bristol board.
- Mounting should not exceed 3” on any side of the photos.
- When indicated a caption is needed, those without captions will be disqualified.
- Photos should be 4” x 6”
- Judged on imagination, focus, interest, exposure, and composition.
- Does the photo capture the idea of “Small Town, Big Hearts”?
- Does the photo make you feel emotion/connection = Big Heart?
- Does the photo show community, kindness and character?

A – INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS (INDIVIDUALLY MOUNTED, WITH CAPTION)
- Act(s) of kindness- photo captures real moment where people help each other
- Local hero(es)
- Community gatherings (ie: local events such as Farmer’s Market, May Festival, VKH Fair Parade, Parade of Lights, outdoor or charity event)
- Main Street Life
- Generations gathering
- Places people gather (the fair, the arena, church, community hall, etc.)
- Pride in the Town (town murals, flags, wearing local team jerseys etc.)
- Youth Sports, cheering fans
B – BLACK AND WHITE INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS (MOUNTED, NO CAPTIONS)
- Quiet streets at sunset
- Scenic trail.
C – COLLECTIONS (COLLECTIONS MUST INCLUDE 4 PHOTOS – MOUNTED WITH CAPTIONS)
- Families working together at the fair
- Enjoying summer in a small town
- Cherished farm animals
- Traditions at the fair
