General Information, Rules, and Regulations:

  • All items in clothing and homecraft division must have been made by the exhibitor within the last two years.
  • Items may only be exhibited at the fair once.
  • Exhibitor may enter only one item per category.
  • Special Prize: $75 gift certificate donated by Brian’s Place, Barney Gordon, prop., Vankleek Hill for the most points in Clothing and Home Craft Division, Sections 144 to 200.

CLASS: KNITTING

Prize Money: $8, $7, $6
Special Prize: $25 donated by Penny Filiatrault, awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in Sections 144 to 153.

CLASS: NEEDLEWORK

Prize Money: $8, $7, $6
Special Prize: $20 donated by Faye Allen, awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in Sections 164 to 168.

  1. Counted cross-stitch – any article of cross stitch.
  2. An item of rug hooking
  3. Bunka – any article framed.
  4. Any other creative needlework (i.e. ribbon, needlepoint, chicken scratch, stitching on paper, crewel, Sachiko, etc.)
  5. Any article of Swedish Weaving

CLASS: QUILTING

Prize Money: $8, $7, $6
Special Prize: $25 donated by Prescott County Women’s Institute award to the exhibitor with the highest points in sections 169 to 177.
Special Prize: $25 donated by Vankleek Hill Quilters’ Guild, awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in Section 170.

Exhibitor Information:

  • Exhibitors are required to provide credit for any pattern or design used, including the name of the pattern and designer.
  • If the quilting was completed by another individual (including longarm quilting), the name of the quilter must be included on the entry form or tag.
  • Sections 170 and 172: Winners of these classes are eligible for the District 1 Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies’ Annual Championship Competition. To be eligible, the total perimeter measurement of the quilt must be a minimum of 280 inches, and there is no maximum perimeter. The quilt must be solely made and quilted by the exhibitor.
  1. Wall hanging (no side measuring longer than 60
    inches and have hanging sleeve).
  2. Quilt – pieced, machine quilted by the exhibitor
    (All entries accepted)
  3. Quilt – quilted by longarm. Quilted by someone other than exhibitor. Long arm quilter’s name must be provided on entry tag.
  4. Quilt – pieced, quilted by hand by the exhibitor
    (All entries accepted)
  5. Lap or Crib Quilt. Must be less than 192” perimeter. Machine or hand pieced. Must be machine quilted, with a domestic sewing machine. Not a long arm machine, not
    professionally quilted and not quilted with a computer regulated and driven pattern.
  6. Jelly Roll Quilt, any size, any quilting technique.
    Attach original or copy of the Jelly Roll label.
  7. Heart themed table runner, quilted.
  8. Quilted cosmetic or toiletry bag.
  9. Creative use of a fabric panel made into a finished quilted item.
  10. Young Quilters – Please see junior division sections 43 & 44 for this class. (To be judged by quilt judge)

CLASS: MISCELLANEOUS

Prize Money: $8, $7, $6
Special Prize: $20 donated by Heidi’s Hair Salon, awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in Sections 179 to 196.

  1. Gift display in coffee mug and covered in clear cellophane
  2. Hand-crafted wood item
  3. Item Created from Barn Board. Not to exceed 24″ in any direction
  4. Painting, oil or acrylic, framed
  5. Watercolor painting, mounted or framed
  6. 2 handmade jewelry items, (earrings count as 1 item), mounted
  7. Vinyl Design (e.g. Cricuit) on any functionable item
  8. Scrapbook – 2 or more pages of scrapbooking, any size, displayed in a book or in sleeves
  9. Digital Photo Book – printed, any size
  10. Welcome Sign with something representing your small town
  11. Upcycled item for the home
  12. Diamond Art Picture
  13. Painted Barn Quilt, maximum 24 x 24 inches
  14. It’s All About the Bling! Any medium but must include bling. Premade items may be used as a starting point.

  16. A country Christmas craft
  17. Handmade cards (2), with hearts on the front
  18. A party invitation representing a small town

CLASS: ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES

Prize Money: $8, $7, $6
Special Prize: $25 donated by Hillcrest Funeral Home awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in Sections 197 to 200.
